When someone reaches us from Australia, the first thing we settle is the clock. Australia runs ahead of Türkiye — roughly seven to eight hours on the east coast — so your late afternoon and evening fall across our morning and midday. That is usually where we place the appointment, and we ask which state you are in, since the country itself spans more than one time zone.

Consultations with Australia are held in Turkish or English. Even when your daily life has been lived in English for years, a personal matter tends to come out more easily in the language you grew up in, so you choose which one we speak. Moving between the two in the middle of the conversation is no trouble either.

Distance works on a different scale in Australia: getting from one city to another within the same country means hours in the air, and outside the larger centres nothing counts as nearby. A phone or video call removes that journey entirely — you stay in your own home, close the door and talk. You also never have to explain to anyone where you are going, which matters on its own if you live in a small community.
